Discovering the apk path of an Android app without root

If you are creating a Custom ROM then it is often the case that you want to translate the display name of an app (e.g. Compass in MIUI) into the name and path of the apk file which (e.g. /system/app/MIUICompass.apk), primarily so you can remove bloatware or replace proprietary apps with your preferred version of the app.

The app that I use is System app remover by Jumobile. While it says that root is required, this is only to perform uninstalls from the system folder. If you do not have root you can still get a list of the installed apps and their paths.

Once inside the app, you can see a list of all the system apps. Long press on an application to show its full path, as well as additional details about the app.
